Each year, the Samoyed Club of America (SCA) holds a National Specialty dog show for Samoyeds from all over the country, and the venue changes every year. As part of the National Specialty, SCA includes a celebration of rescued Samoyeds and a special Rescue Parade in their honor.

The 2013 National Specialty was held at Southfork Ranch, just outside of Dallas, in October. This is right in North Texas Samoyed Rescue’s backyard, and we jumped at the opportunity to host the Rescue Parade!

The 2013 parade had a dozen beautiful participants.  After a reception and light refreshments, everyone made their way to the show ring.  While their “happily ever after” stories were narrated to an appreciative audience, each Sammy made his or her way around the show ring, amid applause and cheers.  Afterwards, each dog was presented with a beautiful rosette ribbon to commemorate the occasion.  Additionally, everyone got a “goody bag” chock full of treats (both canine and human) and toys, and they got to pick out a brand new collar and leash, courtesy of Denver Samoyed Rescue.

The official show photographer, Steve Surfman, took candid shots of the Sammies as they paraded around the show ring.  Also, each participant got his or her picture taken under the famous Southfork Arch.

The slideshow below captures the celebration.
