Maya was rescued from the shelter in Shreveport, Louisiana on March 22, 2013. She is 2 years old, spayed and heartworm-free. She is quite large for a Samoyed, weighing approximately 90 pounds; however, there is not an ounce of fat on her very athletic body. For this reason, we believe that she may be more than "just a Sammy," and she may be mixed with a larger breed. However, except for her size, her coat, ears, tail and disposition are very Sammy indeed!
Maya loves to play! She gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home, has a fairly good appetite, and is very lively and affectionate. Maya is extremely high-energy and will do best in a home where she can have lots of exercise and interaction with either other dogs or older children. She probably would not be a good fit in a home with very young children or the elderly, due to her rambunctious nature. She would also probably enjoy having a "job" to do, such as being in obedience training or participating in agility events.
